Wind and rain in anger
unleashes its fury and
rages against us,
and the waters rise,
flooding over swollen banks.
And the great fires burn,
laying waste to home and farm,
forest land and wild life,
Nature’s destruction
against human kind
for sins against the land and
water, air, nature’s being,
striking back, seeking
again balance, nature’s way
restored, restoring
life to a living
planet, sustained and growing:
punished, forgiven.
And the question asked,
how much more, how much longer
before it’s all gone,
and us, too, too late?
